Another Day at Medicine Bow Lodge
It's the second to last day of our trip! I am so sad! I don't know how to say goodbye to Raindance or Medicine Bow Lodge. It will be hard.
This morning we went through more pine tree forests. It's my favorite place to ride. The same place we rode for the sunset ride. We did more loping and trotting. I think all of us are getting the hang of it. We all love to lope, especially...all of us. I never mentioned that Mr. and Mrs. Kinsolving are taking video and pictures, and giving all of them to us. Later they will make a video, and put it on my KidsTalkAboutGod page. I can't wait to see it!
After our afternoon ride, all the staff played horse tag. It was fun to watch, except when a rider hit the ground (either be being pushed off, or by their horse tripping because it was running so fast). Some of the staff wanted me to play to, but i think i made a wise decision, after seeing the first fall!
Tonight we listened one of the staff sing and play guitar. He is very good. Eva and I are also being taught some pottery. I will bring some clay creations home.
Isaac lately has been talking a lot in his sleep. Mom told us at lunch one day something he said, "Hold unto those reins, tight!" We all had a good laugh.
This has been a great day. Now a cowgirl needs some sleep!
Hello, Riley's dad here again to post some pictures. The first picture is a shot of Riley with one of the wranglers, Mitchell, who likes to take Riley out to one of the patures to do some running.
Most of the others are self-explanatory, so I'll let Riley do the actual writing, since she is much better than I am at describing. We're off for our afternoon ride...
Riley here again. Here are descriptions of the pics:
As Dad told you, this is Mitchell and me loping through a meadow. Isn't this a cool action shot?
This is a meadow next to the lodge with beautiful hills behind it. This is where we usally lope, beacuase of all the room.
Dad made Isaac, Eva, Mitchell and me turn around so he could take this picture from his horse.
Riding through pine tree forest.
More beautiful scenery.
This is mine and Dad's favorite ride. The pine forest is so pretty and the grass is so green.
One night there was such a beautiful sunset. The sun cast so many colors on the clouds. Mom and I took lots of pictures.
During our last sunset ride, we stopped to wathch the sun from a high piont. I lay in the grass (which turned out not to be a good idea, beacuase now i have bug bites all over my neck) for a while, then we all sat on a log and had Mitchelle take our picture.

Yeehaw, Cowgirl!
So many things happened last night! I don't know where to begin.
The sunset ride was beautiful! We rode through tall pine trees with the sun's rays slanting through the trunks onto the tall green grass. We climbed to a bear ridge then stopped to rest in the grass and watch the sun. It was one of my favorite rides.
After our sunset ride, i was stepped on. By Raindance. I was expecting a missing big toenail left from a swollen toe. But thankfully, it wasn't that bad. My toes we just a little swollen and red, but they recovered quickly.
As we were dismounting from the sunset ride, Eva complained of a hurting ear. We didn't think it was a big deal, but there ended up being something in her ear. Isaac and I were sent to the lodge, while Mom tried to calm Eva. Later Mom came to the lodge and told the staff and us that Eva happened to have a bug lodged in her ear. Mom asked to pray, and that's what we did. Finally, after much work, the bug (or bug body part, or weird clump) came out of Eva's ear. We were all relieved. Eva feels lots better. But now we are all a little nervous of bugs around our ears.
Today we rode up the ridge behind the lodge. It was long and tiring, and VERY buggy. But it was a good experience, and I had a good time.
This afternoon I did more loping. I love it so much! Mom did it with me this time. She likes it too.
Tonight we did a little country dancing. It is so fun! I was taught the pretzel, and some other dance moves.
Now it's time for a good night sleep!
(I will post some pics tomorrow of the happenings over the past few days).
